TOKYO, JUL 04, 2024 - Aldagram Inc. began offering the offline feature that allows KANNA smartphone applications to be used in the environment with limited network connectivity. This feature allows users to view the project information and write on digital reports even in offline environments. The offline feature can be used in places such as underground, mountainous areas, factories and other locations with limited network access, or in the event of a communication failure due to a disaster, thereby contributing to greater operational efficiency in the field.

The Background of the development 

　Many construction sites and factories are located in places with limited network connectivity, such as underground, in mountainous areas, or in buildings with thick concrete walls. Previously, KANNA required network connectivity, making it impossible to use the smartphone application in such environments. Since “KANNA Report” is used on-site in many cases, providing an offline feature will expand the usage of “KANNA Report”, and is expected to improve operational efficiency of the customers. 

Assumed use cases 

• Mountainous areas, remote locations, underground and high places (e.g., delivery tower construction, solar power generation equipment construction, wind turbine construction, tunnel construction, etc)
• Environments surrounded by thick concrete walls (e.g., office buildings, construction sites of large commercial facilities, plant construction, etc)
• Environments where the network is unstable due to electromagnetic radiation
• Environments where communication devices are restricted (e.g., manufacturing plants, warehouses)
• When the communication environment is shut down due to a disaster

Overview of  Offline Feature

　
This new feature is compatible with both Android and iOS, and users who are already using KANNA can add the feature for free, and new users do not need to apply for it.
　Offline feature allows users to view a list of projects that have been previously downloaded to the users’ devices and view the details of the project information. In addition, reports created in advance in an online environment can be input and edited offline. The scope of the offline feature will expand in the future.
